Last but not least..

One partner is missing and was not presented here on the blog yet... - Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Let´s find out more..
With 14,000 students Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg), founded in 1970, is the second largest institution of higher education in the Hamburg region and one of the largest of its kind (University of Applied Sciences) in Germany. Practice orientation guarantees a continuous adjustment of teaching based on current development. The university offers a wide range of degree programmes within its four faculties (Engineering & Computer Science, Life Sciences, Design, Media & Information, Business & Social Sciences) including undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes leading to the academic qualifications "Bachelor" and "Master".
 
Within PLEEC project HAW Hamburg was represented by the Research and Transfer Centre "Applications of Life Sciences" (FTZ-ALS) - located at Campus Bergedorf and mainly supporting fundamental and development research especially by conducting practice-oriented research projects on sustainability, renewable energy, water and climate. Furthermore, the centre promotes the contribution of HAW Hamburg to the knowledge and technology transfer on a national and international level.

Its central tasks are as follows:
  • Implementation of interdisciplinary research projects in the field of Life Sciences and other subject areas;
  • Strengthening international cooperations and supporting the establishment of networks;
  • Organization of conferences, symposia and further training programmes in the field of Life Sciences as well as associated disciplines and superordinate subject areas;
  • Application and adaptation of Hamburg’s research & development results to other regions and countries
  • Promotion of the young generation by supervising Master’s and PhD theses on Life Sciences topics.
During PLEEC project the FTZ-ALS of HAW Hamburg as leader of Work Package 7 was responsable for the dissemination activities of the project. These ranged from printed promotion material, online diessemination activities like website, social media and publications to the organization of local, regional and international capacity-building and dissemination events.
